More than 610 people with covid-19 were hospitalized on January 1, according to statistics compiled from national media SVT. This is the highest figure since the end of May last year. A week earlier the figure was 485. Over a seven-day period, the number of covid patients admitted to hospital care increases in 13 of the 21 regions of Sweden. This Monday, around 120 people with coronavirus are currently being treated in intensive care. The southern Götaland region also reports a sharp increase in the number of covid patients, 148 infected people are now being treated in hospitals. That is an increase of more than 50 people since Wednesday. In Stockholm, doctors warn of a shortage of places in hospitals. "It's completely full. All over Stockholm, in all emergency hospitals, all intensive care units," emergency doctor Lina Stålhane told Swedish radio P4 Stockholm.
