To date, 18 people have died just days after testing positive for the omicron variant of the coronavirus.
This is the first time that the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) has reported death figures linked to this variant (omicron) which has been spreading in Denmark since the end of November and which accounts for around 90% of positive tests for Coronavirus. The 18 deaths occurred between November 21 and December 28, when a total of 55,700 omicron cases were detected. During the same period, 100 deaths have been recorded in connection with other known variants of the coronavirus. In Denmark, if the patient dies within 30 days of testing positive for the coronavirus, that death is recorded in the Corona statistics.
